Grapedistrict is a wine dealer that has about 13 stores in and around Amsterdam. The company started with their three founders because they had a passion for wine and the conviction that drinking wine isn't about the rules and taboos. 

For their loyal customers they had a special digital loyalty programm that came with an app. This app had been developed several years earlier and even though it gave different possibilities for the users to use the app (purchasing wine, using the loyalty points and collecting them) it wasn't used often. In the beginning of 2017 they also developed a new way to personalise the experience of wine buying by introducing a personal wine profile. All these developments made for the need of a new and improved app for their loyal 'locals'.

The app that was developed is an app that focusses on doing one thing, and doing it well. Because the basic concept revolved around personal tasting profiles it became apparent that the app should enhance that experience. To give the user the possibility to further improve their 'pallette' they needed to review the wines they tasted. So the most prominent actions became as follows:

  1. Scanning the barcode for in-store use,
  2. Reviewing purchased wines,
  3. Getting recommendations based on the personal profile.

As a result the app has been downloaded the same amount of times as the old app in just 5 months.
